My incoming flight to LAX was late so I missed my connection there. They told me to come back that evening fo a rerouted flight via Philadelphia. So I did, to discover at checkin that I had been given an involuntary downgrade to economy from business. I had a revenue ticket. There are two problems: firstly they gave me a rerouting with an involuntary downgrade, and secondly they didn’t tell me until checkin of the involuntary downgrade. I recall the (business) passenger seated next to me on the delayed flight being told he was being transferred to United Airlines - this wasn’t offered to me. Of course I complained and have just received a “goodwill” $300 refund. I don’t see any goodwill involved. If I pay a business airfare, then I expect to fly in business class. The “goodwill” claim is offensive
